Hi! I’m Chris Ong, a proud father to a baby girl, husband, entrepreneur, Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, illustrator and founder of EXP Coaching Ltd.  I have a passion for people: specifically helping FMCG Sales Professionals alleviate stress and unlock their potential.

I have 15-years’ experience in Sales Account Management within the FMCG industry working for various consumer product businesses.  I have sold a wide range of products including snacks, porridge, fruit juice, premium chocolate, skin care, hot beverages, pet food, vacuum cleaners, purifiers, hair driers and toys – you name it, I’ve pretty much sold it! 

I’ve also managed many customers in different sectors including Wholesale (Costco, Makro and Hancocks Cash & Carry), Premium Retail (Debenhams and House of Fraser), High Street (Currys, Smyths Toys, WHSmith and Wilko), Export and Grocery (Sainsburys and Tesco).

At the start of 2022 I quit my job and took the scary plunge into entrepreneurship.  I am PQ Mental Fitness Coach and also have qualifications from the Co-active Training Institute (Fundamentals) the David Key Reactivation Coaching program and NLP Associate Practitioner Certification.  I’m ready to help you build your mental fitness and give you the tools to be the best Account Manager you can be!

Why 'EXP' coaching?

I am a self-confessed geek and my favourite game growing up was Final Fantasy 7.  This was my introduction to Japanese Role Playing Games and I enjoyed the process of accruing “Experience Points” (or EXP) to level-up the characters in my party to prepare them for the next challenge in the hero’s story.

The openness and freedom of choice in how to play the game massively appealed to me.  You could accrue enough EXP through the linear path of the story to proceed through all of the stages.  However, you could also choose to venture off the beaten path to complete optional side quests.  Whilst not necessarily integral to the main plot, these detours could be even more rewarding and completion of said quests could result in earning even more EXP or a rare treasure, which could make you even stronger.

I view life and career in the same way.  There is no one-size-fits all way to achieve our goals and no set timeline.  Sometimes making the sideways move in your career to manage a different account or even another cross-function might be frustrating.  However, as long as you are making incremental steps towards your overall goal and you have a positive mindset in your approach, you will accomplish everything you set out to achieve!
